Giinawind bigo ji wiijii (Manitoba)
The project involves developing a workshop curriculum and two training manuals, one for the participants and one for trainers. The implementation of the curriculum through training seminars (1 in urban Winnipeg and 2 in rural areas near reserves in Manitoba), holding focus groups and individual interviews, designing and updating of the Web site, the production and dissemination of community articles and preparation of training resources for online dissemination. The project will directly reach nearly 100 persons with different types of disability through the training. The online training resources produced by the project will be available electronically. The project’s Indigenous name – Giinawind bio ji wiijii’iweyang – translates into “Nothing about us without us” and is funded by a Canadian Heritage Grant.
