Virtual Knowledge Network Presentation
Overview of the Virtual Knowledge Network
D.R.P.I. Canada’s Virtual Knowledge Network (V.K.N.) represents the key feature of our project’s knowledge mobilization and dissemination strategy.
Definition: A Virtual Knowledge Network can be defined as a group of individuals and / or organizations that are dispersed over a number of remote areas with proper communications technology to connect them together to create, share and disseminate knowledge.
D.R.P.I. Canada's V.K.N. involves various components:
- e-dissemination: involves the dissemintation of information and research findings from the various themes. Different methods will be used to code, organize, search and display large volumes of information.
- e-education: involves the development of educational materials such as training manuals. A usability assessment tool will be also implemented in order to assess the impact and usefulness of the training materials for different users.
- e-collaboration: involves the ability to organize and share various types of information within and cross-communities through a multitude of features - uploading, downloading and co-editing documents, discussion fora, chatrooms and email.
Methods of measuring the degree and efficacy of these various components will be put into place.
